We are a family business, three brothers, our Mum, wives, and children. Our family business is known as RMD Marine Ltd and our home is Tauranga. We Originally started in Rotorua and after success in Plumbing, our family could see another dream. RMD started from humble beginnings in the fishing world when most in the industry had already been gifted Quota from the Government in 1986...
Times have changed and so has our industry, we have managed to evolve over time by welcoming sustainability, that is what this Vessel is about. The design has been well thought out with many sleepless nights by Craig Booth, owner of Westfleet Seafoods who worked with Aimex based in Nelson to build the Santy Maria. Another great example that we have attracted like-minded people who are just as passionate in renewal like ourselves.
WE STARTED FISHING ON A TIN BOAT BASICALLY
Our first purchase was the Patricia Jane(PJ) then the Diana. Both brothers Roger and Daniel operated these two vessels for many years. As we began to work longer hours and grow so did our fleet. We then purchased the Joanne and sister ship Eskdale, slowly upgrading we replaced the PJ and Diana. A proud moment was buying the Jay Belle our biggest ship back then that we still own today. Then came the Donna Maria, Trinity and Sea Hunter, which have all been sold. As our fleet grew so did the demand to be efficient with business and fishing practices.
